Adult Ministry

Adult Classes & Study

Sunday School

We have several different Sunday School classes for adults.  We have dedicated teachers who lead the classes covering a variety of subjects.  We also enjoy a great time of sharing and fellowship.  Classes start at 9:30 am on Sunday mornings.

College and Careers Group

The College and Careers Group is a new Sunday School class for young adults, whether in college or a career.  Organized in the fall of 2005, it is designed primarily to encourage spiritual fellowship and Bible study with peers.

Bible Study

In addition to Sunday School, we have adult Bible Study and a college & careers Bible Study on Wednesday nights beginning at 6:30 pm.  Come join us!

United Methodist Women

The women at GUMC have two circles that meet monthly.  Each circle has programs about issues facing women and children throughout the world.  The circles also have several events during the year including social functions, fund-raisers, and projects ministering to community members who are unable to get out of their homes.

Golden Circle

The Golden Circle meets the second Tuesday of each month at 10:00 am, with a covered dish lunch following at noon.

Faithful Workers Circle

The Faithful Workers Circle meets the first Monday of each month at 7:00 pm, with dessert and drinks following the meeting.

United Methodist Men

United Methodist Men's Club

The Men's Club meeting is held every other month on the second Saturday.  Breakfast is served at 8:00 am, with the meeting directly after.  Cooks should arrive at 7:00 am.

The Annual Men's Club Fish Fry is held each year on the third Saturday in September.  This is the annual fund raiser for the club and is widely supported by the community.  The annual fish fry has been a tradition for over thirty years.

The Men's Club also sponsors a country ham Christmas breakfast for the church each December.  Gloves, caps, socks, and other items are brought and given to children and adults in the Upton Heights community in Lebanon.

As an outreach program, the Men’s Club sponsors a bingo night at the Veteran’s Hospital in Murfreesboro once a quarter. We provide prizes and refreshments for the residence there. In addition, we host a fish fry for them in May of each year.
