FOCUSING ON THE VISION!
Imagine a church.......focused, active, and excited about ministry and
mission. A church dreaming the dream and focusing on the vision. This is matched
by a strong commitment in fulfilling the very best that God has in mind for us.
We, at Gladeville United Methodist Church, are experiencing what can only be described
as, " A Turning Point", in the life and faith of our ministry. We stand
at our present place in history because of the faithful devotion of those who have
blazed the trail before us. We are the inheritors of a great legacy. This compels
me to ask the question, "What legacy will we leave?" I answer this question with
the basic question of ministry, "What is God's vision for our church?"
Note, the question is not centered on satisfying our personal visions and preferences.
Instead, we seek to discern God's vision. We do this by remembering our central
task or mission as a church, Christ's Church. The overall mission of the church
is defined by Jesus in His final words to His discicples, "Go, therefore, and make
disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son,
and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded
you" (Matthew 28: 19-20).
Obeying this commission from Jesus is the very heart of the Church's purpose. We
are committed to the call of making disciples for Jesus Christ. The mission of the
Gladeville United Methodist church is to glorify God through dedicated evangelism,
discipleship, worship, stewardship and ministry. We extend to you a special invitation
to join us in worship and active ministry for the Lord.

April Building Committee Update
Good News! The first phase of the Sunday School Room renovation
has been completed. We have now begun work on the remaining rooms and hallway area
directly behind the Sanctuary.
When are we going to break ground on the new Sanctuary? Several people have asked
that question recently and the simple answer is “We are not absolutely sure”. We
can, however, report that a considerable amount of work is taking place behind the
scenes and a date for scheduling a final church meeting and beginning construction
is expected in the near future. We will certainly keep the congregation posted through
announcements at our Sunday Services.
Our architect met recently with the Tennessee State Fire Marshal to review all open
items required for their final approval. This approval is our last major hurdle
prior to scheduling our final Church Meeting and beginning construction.
We have received preliminary bids from two general contractors. These bids were
both in excess of our budget so we are now in the process of evaluating the various
building components for potential cost savings opportunities. To date, we have identified
approximately $100,000 in potential savings that will have little or no impact on
the overall design. It appears that we will be able to reduce the cost to an amount
very close to our budget.
Your continued support through financial gifts and prayer are very much needed and
appreciated.
